Long-Standing Collaboration with Snackhouse OZ
For many years, we’ve worked with the team behind Snackhouse OZ. They’re pure creatives, workaholics who see business opportunities in everything. We get along great in terms of opinions, humor, and ideas, and after all this time, we’ve become friends. So, they came to us with the idea of opening a restaurant, a snackhouse by the Kupa river near Ozalj. They asked if we could come up with some name ideas, and then logically move on to creating the visual identity and everything else needed for such a project: menus, posters, hut branding, social media design, etc.
The Naming Journey
The name suggestions were great, but Snackhouse Oz caught our eye right away. Everything made sense. We were a bit worried about the “Oz” next to Ozalj because it seemed impossible that no one had thought of it before. Later, we learned there had been attempts, but none had lasted. And so, Oz was born. A world of its own, a world where everyone is happy, enjoying good food, drinks, socializing, and listening to good music… a fairytale.
From Monogram to Frog
Regarding the logo, we started with a clean monogram, then moved to a stylized frog (often mentioned in conversations as frogs are almost like local pets there), and then back to the monogram. The colors reflect the local vibe – earth, river, nature… Everything came together in OZ! The colors connect with the natural beauty of Ozalj and the Kupa river, reflecting earthy tones and the freshness of nature.
Bringing the Story to Life
Everything else emerged through the story and creation of this beautiful idea. Interestingly, we haven’t been to Oz yet, but the summer is long – never say never. This project is not just another task for us, but a real story we’ve lovingly told and shaped. Oz has become a symbol of friendship, creativity, and a connection with nature.
